Dr. Abida Shehzadi
Assistant Professor
Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology
Ph.D.
Dr. Abida Shehzadi holds the role of Assistant Professor at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), specifically within the Bioinformatics lab. She completed her MPhil degree in Zoology at GCU Lahore, focusing on Immunoinformatics for her final research project. Her academic journey continued with a PhD in Molecular Biology from CEMB, where she was affiliated with the Forensic DNA Typing Research Lab and Genetic Diseases Lab. One of her notable achievements includes the development of a novel PCR multiplex assay capable of simultaneously detecting autosomal, Y/RM-Y, and X-chromosomal STRs. Through rigorous validation studies, this PCR multiplex assay has demonstrated its efficacy as a sensitive, robust, and highly informative tool for applications in both forensic science and paternity testing. Dr. Abida’s engagement has always extended to teaching and research activities at CEMB. Her proactive involvement is further showcased through her participation in both national and international conferences. Her research interests encompass a diverse spectrum, ranging from protein modeling, phylogenetic analysis, and immunoinformatics to epitope prediction, forensic testing and paternity analysis as well as genetic diseases lab. Areas of Research: MHC, Immunoinformatics, Forensic and Genetic Diseases |
